kitty kitty

Our first piece “kitty kitty” was created by the support and sponsorship of Akbank Sanat, first got to meet with the audience in April 2019 as a work in progress, ending with amazing reviews . Then it got accepted to premier in IKSV 23rd Istanbul Theatre Festival, in December 2019. After the premiere, we had a chance to present “kitty kitty” in Lisbon during our residency, in December 2019, in collaboration with Zaratan Residency and Largo Residencias.

In November 2020, with “kitty kitty”, we got accepted to Aerowaves Twenty21 Artists.

kitty kitty is our first attempt of collaboration, where everything emerged; it is the initiation of two individuals meeting, feeling, finding space for both themselves and collectivity, making sacrifices,  getting angry, making peace, bouncing, turning heads, listening. It is our first piece to decide our cravings and common urgencies as collaborating artists, and almost a parody of our process; how do two people collaborate, how do the dynamics shift and twist, how do we find balance and comfort in each other to create a space that holds us and opens possibilities for us to wonder in/within/through.

With kitty kitty’s realm, we want to open space for audience, coming to be involved in a shared experience, to have the dynamic architecture as on the stage; moving, seeing from multiple viewpoints, putting effort, to be able to emphatize and embody, with not only visually but every senses. Traveling through the realm of our language, with freedom, and co-experience this space-time without limitations and strings attached.

We started researching from the dynamic of Two, the minimal initiation of a story; a story between the Two, and the honesty and sincerity that these ideas brought to us as a performance existence. two kittens on the street, playing with each other is just another beautiful, simple yet adapting algorithms of communication and dynamics, which showed us what it meant to work together. What both of us performers individually expected from art at that moment was sincerity. We craved for sincerity of performers, to be able to see and show transparency, emancipated from performing bodies. Because the country we live in is already politically densed so are the bodies and alternative art forms. We dive in the depths of clown, that is our main approach of movement attitude, and as two dancers, we wonder in physical relationing and communication possibilites. Stories we share are without any direct message from us, but open to your interpretation and approach. We just want to create an enjoyable, supportive atmosphere and search more in this performative approach of sincerity when it comes to sharing  embodied narratives.
